PCB Cracks Down on Hamza Nazar with Two-Year Ban Over Visa Misconduct
Pakistan domestic cricketer Hamza Nazar has been handed a two-year suspension and fined PKR 1 million after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) found him guilty of misconduct linked to a visa application submitted through the board.
The disciplinary action follows an internal investigation that concluded Nazar had failed to provide complete and accurate information during the application process, leading the PCB to impose one of its toughest recent sanctions against a domestic player.
PCB Finds Player Guilty After Investigation
According to the PCB, a three-member disciplinary committee was appointed to examine the case after concerns were raised over information submitted by Nazar as part of a visa application facilitated by the board.
The panel reviewed the available evidence, heard the off-spinner's explanation and gave him an opportunity to respond before reaching its final decision.
Following the investigation, the committee concluded that Nazar had breached the PCB's disciplinary standards by failing to fully disclose relevant information and by providing misleading details during the application process.
Two-Year Suspension and Financial Penalty
Based on the committee's findings, the PCB has suspended Nazar from all cricket activities under its jurisdiction for the next two years.
In addition to the ban, the board has imposed a financial penalty of PKR 1 million, underlining the seriousness with which it views breaches involving official documentation and board processes.
The suspension prevents Nazar from participating in domestic competitions or any PCB-sanctioned cricket during the period of his ban.
PCB Stresses Importance of Transparency
While announcing the punishment, the PCB reinforced its commitment to maintaining integrity in all administrative and cricket-related matters.
The board said honesty and transparency are expected from every player representing Pakistan's domestic and national cricket structure, particularly when dealing with official procedures handled by the PCB.
Although the case centred on a visa application, the board has not disclosed which country was involved or provided additional details surrounding the application itself.
No Appeal Announced Yet
At the time of writing, neither Nazar nor his representatives have publicly responded to the decision.
The PCB has also not indicated whether the player intends to appeal the sanction.
Unless the punishment is overturned or reduced through the appeals process, the off-spinner will remain unavailable for selection until the suspension expires.
