India could make a significant change to their playing XI for the second Test against Sri Lanka, with reports suggesting that Kuldeep Yadav is set to lose his place after an underwhelming performance in Galle.
Despite India securing a dominant victory in the opening Test to take a 1-0 lead in the two-match series, the team management is reportedly considering freshening up the bowling attack for the series finale in Colombo, which begins on Sunday.
If Kuldeep is left out, offspinner Saransh Jain could be handed his Test debut at the Sinhalese Sports Club.
Kuldeep Yadav Struggles in Galle
Kuldeep was unable to make a major impact during the first Test despite getting plenty of overs to work with.
The left-arm wristspinner bowled 25 overs across the match and finished with figures of one wicket for 103 runs. With the other Indian spinners making much stronger contributions, his performance has reportedly put his place in the XI under pressure.
India fielded three frontline spinners in Galle, and Kuldeep was the least effective of the trio.

According to reports, Madhya Pradesh offspinner Saransh Jain is the leading candidate to replace Kuldeep if India decide to make a change.
The 33-year-old could make his Test debut at the Sinhalese Sports Club, providing India with a different type of spin option alongside Jadeja and Suthar.
Jain's potential selection would also give India an offspinner in the attack, adding greater variety to a bowling unit that could once again rely heavily on spin in Colombo.
India have shown a willingness to reward strong domestic performers in recent seasons, and a Test debut for Jain would represent another opportunity for a player who has consistently impressed in Indian first-class cricket.
